Duties, Taxes & Customs Clearance

We want international ordering to be as straightforward as possible. Evodent ships worldwide and provides the standard export and shipping documentation required to help your order move smoothly through customs.

DAP is Our Default Shipping Term

  • All international orders are shipped on a DAP (Delivered at Place) basis by default.
  • Wherever possible, we will try to arrange DDP (Delivered Duty Paid) shipping so eligible import duties and taxes can be handled in advance. However, DDP availability depends on the destination country, courier, shipment value, local customs procedures and applicable laws.
  • For this reason, DDP cannot be guaranteed unless it has been specifically confirmed by Evodent for your order.
  • Unless DDP is expressly confirmed by us, your shipment should be considered DAP.

What Happens if DDP Is Not Available?

If DDP is unavailable, cannot be booked, or cannot be completed for any reason, the shipment will remain on a DAP basis. Under DAP, the recipient/importer is responsible for any charges assessed at destination, which may include:

  • Import duties
  • VAT, GST or other local taxes
  • Customs clearance charges
  • Courier brokerage or disbursement charges
  • Import processing fees
  • Other charges imposed by customs authorities, government agencies or the courier

These charges, where applicable, must be paid by the recipient directly to the courier, customs authority or other relevant party. Evodent does not control the final customs assessment made by the destination country’s authorities.

Estimated Low-Value Customs Guide

Some countries provide simplified customs procedures, duty relief or special treatment for lower-value shipments. The figures below are provided only as approximate references and should not be interpreted as guaranteed duty-free or tax-free limits.

  • USA: No general de minimis duty-free threshold currently
  • European Union: Up to €150 low-value regime*
  • United Kingdom Approx: £135
  • Australia Approx: AUD 1,000
  • Canada Approx: CAD 20
  • Singapore Approx: S$400
  • UAE: Approx. AED 300
  • Saudi Arabia: Approx. SAR 1,000
  • New Zealand: Approx. NZD 1,000

*For the EU, low-value consignments up to €150 are no longer completely duty-free. A temporary €3 customs duty per tariff item may apply, and VAT may also apply.

Please note: These figures are approximate customs references only and are not guarantees of duty- or tax-free delivery. Rules may vary depending on shipment value, product classification, importer type, shipping method and local regulations. Final duties, taxes and clearance charges are determined by the destination country’s authorities and/or courier.

Please Treat These Figures as Estimates

Customs rules can change and may apply differently depending on:

  • Destination country
  • Product classification
  • Shipment and customs value
  • Freight and insurance charges
  • Importer type
  • Personal or commercial import status
  • Local taxes and regulations

The final classification, customs value, applicable duties, taxes and eligibility for any exemption or relief are determined by the destination country’s authorities and/or the courier handling clearance.

Evodent cannot guarantee that an order will qualify for any particular customs exemption, low-value treatment or duty/tax relief.

Refused Duties or Customs Clearance

For shipments sent on a DAP basis, the recipient is responsible for completing import clearance and paying applicable destination charges.

If the recipient refuses to pay required import charges, does not provide required customs information, refuses delivery or otherwise prevents customs clearance, the shipment may be returned, stored, abandoned or otherwise handled according to the courier’s and customs authority’s procedures.

Any resulting return freight, storage, customs, brokerage, handling or related charges may be charged to the buyer or deducted from any applicable refund, subject to applicable law and our Terms & Conditions.

Planning a Bulk Order?

Ordering larger quantities for a dental college, distributor, clinic or training centre?

Submit your requirements using the form below. Our team will review the order size, destination and shipping volume and try to secure a competitive international freight rate for you.

Bulk orders are generally quoted and shipped on a DAP basis. This allows us to provide a clear product and freight quotation while the buyer handles any applicable import duties, taxes and local customs charges at destination. If a reliable DDP option is available, we can check this separately and confirm it before shipment.

If a DDP option is available for your shipment, we can also check this and let you know before dispatch.

FAQs – Frequently Asked Questions

Q. Will my international order be shipped DAP or DDP?
A. All international orders are treated as DAP by default. Wherever possible, we try to arrange DDP shipping so import charges can be handled in advance. However, DDP depends on the destination, courier and local customs regulations and cannot be guaranteed.

Q. Who pays customs duties and taxes if DDP is not available?
A. If your shipment is sent on a DAP basis, any import duties, VAT/GST, brokerage, customs clearance or other local charges assessed at destination must be paid by the recipient.

Q. Are low-value orders duty-free?
A. Not necessarily. Many countries have low-value or simplified customs thresholds, but the rules vary significantly by destination and may apply differently to duties, VAT/GST and courier fees. The values shown on this page are estimates only and should not be treated as a guarantee of duty-free delivery.

Q. What customs documents do you provide?
A. We prepare the standard export and shipping documentation required for your order, including a commercial invoice and other applicable shipment documents. Additional documentation may be provided where required and available.

Q. Can I get a better shipping rate for a bulk order?
A. Yes. For bulk orders, submit the form on this page with your requirements and destination. We will review the shipment size and try to obtain a competitive freight rate. Bulk shipments are normally quoted on a DAP basis unless a DDP arrangement is specifically confirmed.
